In July and August, every Friday evening in the most significant places in the
historical centre of Ravenna, there are different kinds of shows, concerts,
exhibitions. In these occasions it is possible to follow guided tours free of
charge, to some of the main monuments of the town.
Ravenna festival
The Ravenna festival takes place in June and July. It consists of operas,
concerts of classical music, ballets. The atmosphere is magic because Ravenna
and its monuments, such as San Apollinare in Classe, the Alighieri Theatre and
Palazzo De Andrè, become the background for this event.
Ravenna jazz
It is the oldest jazz festival in Italy and has an international importance. It
takes place during the summer in the Rocca Brancaleone.
The organ music festival
In July and August the wonderful church of San Vitale hosts organ concerts.
Amusement park Mirabilandia
This new and huge amusement park is not far from Ravenna, near the seaside town
of Savio. It offers attractions and shows for children and adults. For schools
there is the option to buy a group ticket which includes also the entrance fees
to the monuments in the historical centre of Ravenna.
WINTER EVENTS
Ravenna the heart of Christmas
In December is possible to visit in the churches of the town, more than 35 cribs.
The crib inside the church of S. Agata is especially characteristic as it
reproduces a model of Ravenna in the early years of the 20th century.
Dantesque September
Every year, in September, in the so-called “zone of silence”, the zone of Dante’s
tomb, some events and rituals take place to commemorate the great poet’s death.
Handicraft and flea market
Every third Saturday and Sunday of the month, there is a typical flea market in
the historical centre.
